TransAcoustic

YAMAHA TransAcoustic upright and grand pianos

TA3 and TC3

With this YAMAHA innovation, you can experience your acoustic instrument in a whole new way. Enjoy the authentic reverberation and unique resonance of an acoustic piano combined with the ability to adjust the volume of the instrument to your liking. With and without headphones.

Perfect for pianists and aspiring pianists who are looking for a real musical partner for life.

Acoustic sound for every occasion.

TransAcoustic pianos are real acoustic upright and grand pianos equipped with a volume control based on YAMAHA technology. While it is also possible to play quietly through headphones, TransAcoustic mode allows you to control the volume of your piano at will, and play at your chosen volume without headphones. And even at low volumes, the soundboard vibrates, so you can enjoy the physical sensation of natural acoustic sound as you play.

With its unique feel and the freedom to play whenever you want, this instrument will become an integral part of your musical life.

How does a TransAcoustic Piano work?

A YAMAHA TransAcoustic upright or grand piano allows you to play with a real acoustic piano and sound under normal circumstances or to activate the TransAcoustic mode so that you can use the volume control - without using headphones. Your instrument becomes a loudspeaker. Although the sound is now produced digitally, the soundboard still vibrates and the strings and the body of the piano and grand piano resonate so that you can feel your piano playing as usual.

TransAcoustic pianos can do even more. They are also equipped with a SILENT mode so that you can enjoy your real piano playing with headphones at any time of the day or night. Without disturbing others or being disturbed yourself.

TransAcoustic technology makes it possible to adjust the volume to any level without losing the incomparable sound of an acoustic upright or grand piano.

Experience your piano playing at a perfectly adjusted volume - depending on the time of day, your surroundings and your preferences.

TransAcoustic Technology quickly explained

The focus is on how the instrument works: sound and resonance

When a key is struck, the hammer hits the strings and they begin to vibrate. The original sound is soft, but the soundboard amplifies it - using the entire body of the piano as a soundboard. This creates the unmistakable, rich sound of an acoustic instrument. TransAcoustic technology utilizes this mode of operation, in which the soundboard transmits the sound without actually striking the strings.

Choose from the sounds of a variety of instruments. These include two legendary concert grand pianos - Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial - as well as electric pianos, harpsichords, organs and many more. With TransAcoustic instruments, these sound from the entire piano, creating an absolutely authentic acoustic sound experience.

With the Smart Pianist app, you can select the different tones directly from your smart device.

How does a transducer work?

The TransAcoustic technology uses no loudspeakersto play back the sound. Sound transducers are used instead.

The transducers convert audio signals into vibrations, which are then transmitted to the soundboard. The soundboard amplifies the vibrations and the entire piano begins to vibrate in unison. Digital audio sources also go through this process. This allows you to experience the rich sound of an acoustic piano while listening.

As the contact surface between the transducer and the soundboard is very small, the vibration of the soundboard is not affected.

Play audio files on your piano. An ingenious experience!

Experience your audio files with the natural, rich sound that only the soundboard of an upright and grand piano can produce. Play along with your audio files or just listen as your entire piano becomes a speaker.
