The acoustic piano

An acoustic piano has hammers that hit the strings when a key is struck and the sound is created at the exact moment it is made. This sound is unique every time, just as you set it. By using the pedals, you can extend and change the sound.

A digital piano, on the other hand, produces an electric sound that is reproduced via an amplifier and loudspeaker system.

Playing on an acoustic piano and hearing the sound you have created yourself is unique.

The silent piano

You benefit from all the advantages of an acoustic piano with numerous digital applications of the latest silent technologies.

For example, if you still want to play the piano at night, simply switch from normal acoustic mode to silent mode and a stop bar ensures that the hammers are intercepted before the strings. And the world outside the headphones will no longer hear your beautiful piano sounds.

The TransAcoustic Piano

Expand the tonal expression of your acoustic piano by reproducing the authentic sound of a full-size Yamaha CFX concert grand piano. Alternatively, transform it into a silent and electric piano and add string accompaniment.

If you wish, you can reduce the volume of the instrument or even play completely silently through headphones thanks to SILENT technology.

The Disklavier

The self-playing piano, for playing and streaming. Turn your living room or event into a concert hall.

The Disklavier is a traditional acoustic piano, manufactured in the form of upright pianos, grand pianos and large concert grand pianos and equipped with a built-in recording and playback system.

Our guide for your questions

A new or a second-hand piano?

New pianos

With a new piano, you can always rely on receiving a high-quality instrument.

And a new piano has many other advantages:

One Manufacturer's warranty of 5 - 10 years.

A Precise new movement with a controlled touch and perfect tension ratios of the "acoustic system". These ensure the best sound quality and dynamics.

One cross-generational durability with proper care.

A good investment and, in the best case, an investment in your future.

Significant differences in price These differences are due to the origin and production, the materials used, the workmanship - machine-made or handcrafted - and many other price-determining factors, which we will be happy to demonstrate to you in detail during a consultation. For example, a smaller, high-quality piano can sound much better than a large one of lower quality. And the playing feel and sound volume are also largely dependent on the size.

Used pianos

We distinguish between affordable used and premium instruments, as well as young used pianos.

All used pianos from our piano store are quality checked, serviced and come with a 5-year guarantee. That is 3 years more than the statutory warranty. The reason for this is that we always check the quality and durability of our used instruments before we offer them to our customers.

Our tip: When buying a second-hand piano, make sure that it has been tested for quality by a piano dealer or a specialist.

Used pianos from private households may have hidden damage due to incorrect storage or poorly carried out repairs. When inspecting the instrument, check that there are no damp spots on the back. The keyboard flap and the case flaps should also be easy to open. And the cast iron plate must not be cracked. Strong rattling noises when trying out the instrument could possibly indicate loose ribs or a defective soundboard. It is often difficult for a layman to recognize whether the instrument can still be modulated in terms of sound, whether it has a precise playing style and whether it can still be tuned at all.

When appraising a used piano from a private household, an expert is always a valuable support. We will be happy to assist you.

What are the main differences between an upright piano and a digital piano?

Which one would you recommend? These are some of the most common questions we are asked time and again. And rightly so. Because there are also factors that can have a decisive influence on the choice.

What are your goals?

How much space is available and what are the room conditions?

How much budget do you have available? Would you like to take the instrument with you sometimes?

How important are additional digital features to you? Do you have a personal preference?

The digital piano

is a fully electronic instrument that always requires electricity to operate.

While the keys are becoming more and more similar to their acoustic counterparts, the weight and touch of many instruments are already very similar to a piano touch, but the weight and touch are often much lighter and offer less control.

The sound of a digital piano has become better and better in recent years. But there will always be this one difference: you will only ever hear a digital recording of the sound (samples) when you strike the keys.

The advantages:

The use of numerous digital applications

There are already very affordable entry-level pianos

If you have limited space, the digital piano is a good alternative

If you prefer to play pop music, for example, or would like to take your instrument with you, or if your room situation requires it, digital pianos offer a very good alternative

The disadvantages:

Rapid depreciation compared to an acoustic piano

A shorter service life

The sound and shaping of the tone are digital

The unique experience of playing on a real acoustic upright or grand piano cannot be achieved.

The acoustic/real piano

With upright and grand pianos, the sound is created at the exact moment it is created - and each time this sound is unique, just as you set it. This acoustic live experience is essential for two reasons: firstly, the action gives you a genuine and incomparable playing feel that optimally develops the finger touch, and secondly, the acoustic sound sensitizes the ear to the finest tonal nuances and thus ensures a true listening and playing experience.

The advantages:

The sound is self-formed and unique

Ear training is encouraged

Due to the natural materials, you can individualize playing on a piano from player to player over generations

Depending on the brand, an acoustic piano is an investment for generations

By expanding a silent system, many digital advantages can be utilized while retaining the sound and playability of a real piano.

The disadvantages:

The disadvantages can be found in the size, depending on the space available, and in the higher purchase costs for more exclusive models and silent pianos.

Questions about music schools

A question we are asked very often:

"Our child is starting to play the piano at music school and we don't yet know whether he will stick with it. Should we start with an inexpensive keyboard?"

A keyboard usually has no keys and differently weighted keys and is therefore not suitable for learning the correct touch technique.

Our recommendation in this case is to buy an acoustic piano. With or without a silent function, depending on your preference.

You also have the option of renting an instrument. You can find all information about our rental instruments here.

The electronic market has developed considerably in recent years and there are a number of advanced digital pianos that come closer to the touch of acoustic instruments and offer an individual alternative for beginners. We will be happy to advise you in detail.
