C. Bechstein. The HISTORY.
A musical success story
C. Bechstein, founded by Carl Bechstein, has earned an incomparable reputation in the world of music thanks to the outstanding quality of its instruments and its close association with famous musicians such as Cosima and Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt and Hans von Bülow. These musical personalities, who praised Bechstein as a "color piano", contributed significantly to the brand's worldwide fame.
The master pianist Franz Liszt purchased his first Bechstein grand piano in Weimar as early as 1860. Over the years, Bechstein cultivated close relationships with his artist customers and gave Richard Wagner a grand piano for his birthday. Liszt also received new Bechstein grand pianos every year and praised them until the end of his life.
Carl Bechstein was an avant-gardist of his time and responded skillfully to new musical trends. As early as the 1860s, he expanded his production and massively increased exports, making Bechstein one of the leading piano manufacturers.
Bechstein grand pianos were not only prized by the royal and imperial courts of Europe, but also became a symbol of musical excellence in music salons and bourgeois rooms. In 1892, the Konzertdirektion Hermann Wolff opened the Bechstein Hall in Berlin, which quickly became a center of musical life.
Carl Bechstein died in 1900, but his legacy lives on in the continued excellence and innovation of Bechstein pianos. C. Bechstein remains a name synonymous with exceptional quality and musical passion.
